The Charlie Cords Memorial Scholarship
 Introduction
 Application

Welcome Cal Students!

The California chapter of Delta Upsilon congratulates you on your admission to the finest public university in the world. As a reward for all of your hard work thus far, we would like to offer you the opportunity to apply to the Charlie Cords Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship of up to $2000 is open to all male Cal freshmen and first year transfer students. Because of the rising costs of education, we feel that organizations in our position have a responsibility to reach out and assist fellow students in meeting their educational goals. The recipients of these awards will be chosen on the basis of their academic and extracurricular activities and achievements, as well as their personal qualities in relation to Delta Upsilon's Four Founding Principles:

  • The Promotion of Friendship

  • The Development of Character

  • The Diffusion of Liberal Culture
  • The Advancement of Justice

Please note that you don't need to join Delta Upsilon Fraternity or any other Greek institution in order to be considered for this scholarship.

The application process is rather simple and should not require much effort other than compiling the same information that you needed to apply to Cal. The application can be filled out and submitted entirely online. Any student selected to receive the scholarship will be required to show their high school transcript and SAT and ACT scores.

Applications must be submitted by August 11, 2008.
